Nutrition and healthy eating is meant to be simple, but Australians have become quite confused when it comes to eating healthy. But its no wonder… we are constantly bombarded by certain foods popping up that "research shows" eating it will improve your life in some way, whole foods and new nutrition facts are continuing to be discovered, then you have TV and radio advertisements telling you what to eat. You also have the word "nutritious" being used on foods which are clearly unhealthy. Not to mention role models and qualified practitioners in the area of nutrition and healthy eating endorsing foods which again are clearly not a good choice.
So with all this information available to us, where do you start? You begin with the basics. When you know the basics of what healthy eating is and the basis of true nutrition, then you have a foundation which you can build upon. It also empowers you to make better decisions when you're food shopping or eating out at a restaurant.
